The Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce welcomed Three Rivers Land Trust to the Chamber with a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of their new accessible trail at Sanford Community Forest. Three Rivers Land Trust was founded in 2000. Since then, Three Rivers has conserved around 2,200 acres of public and private lands with conservation easements, and now owns an additional 1,037 acres.

Three Rivers Land Trust successfully purchased the Sanford Community Forest in September 2021, and all donations now go toward supporting trail building and enhancements, in addition to native planting projects to restore the health of the forest.  Guests can now visit the .38 mile wheelchair-accessible All Person’s Nature Trail. The forest is less than three miles from downtown Sanford, and connects to both the Rail Trail and other conserved lands. The land trust is led by Executive Director Ruth Gutman. After serving as the development assistant/director at the land trust since 2013, Gutman stepped into the E.D. position in October 2023.

Represented at the ribbon cutting ceremony are (left to right): Cari Quater, Chamber President; Liz Shields, Hammer & Stain York County; Jean Noon, TRLT board member; Mary Guckenburg, volunteer; Ruth Gutman, TRLT Executive Director; Andy Austin, 104.3 The Goat, Tom Genereux, Gotta Be Frank; Greg Guckenburg, volunteer; Sean Dumont, Edward Jones.
