About the event

The Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce coordinates all short-term workforce training programs for Maine’s community colleges, working closely with business and industry leaders statewide. Launched in 2021, the Alfond Center served over 27,000 Mainers in its first thirty months.

The Maine Workforce Development Compact is comprised of Maine businesses, associations, nonprofits, and municipalities who are committed to working together to solve Maine’s workforce challenges. Joining is free and takes only minutes. Benefits include:

  • Financial support of up to a $1,200 match per frontline worker.

  • Community college scholarships for staff to continue acquiring skills in pursuit of a degree or credential of value.

  • An advisor to assist employees with course selection, textbooks, tutoring services, and other resources to ensure their continued success.

  • Maintenance of your employees’ training records.

Training for Compact Members can occur at one of Maine’s community colleges, by a third-party training vendor, or through your own company-based training. All Maine companies qualify and there are additional resources available to small- and mid-sized companies.
